These sessions aim at illuminating the conceptual creative process of contemporary art and its practitioners through art making and discussion. No previous knowledge or mastering of techniques is required, just an open mind. Students will appreciate art in all of its appearances and begin to break down the perceived barriers between everyday life and the art world, achieving a generally heightened level of awareness.

In four intense sessions, students will be immersed in the process of drawing. Working large-scale from a room-size installation, students will be challenged with concepts both traditional and contemporary as they determine what it takes to “build” their images. This class will include lectures, critiques as well as one-on-one instruction. Paper and Charcoal are pre-ordered. There is a $5 materials fee.

John, Paul, & Carrie Speed live on the island of Oahu while the other members of their family band call the mainland their home. But even the Pacific Ocean can’t stop them from writing, recording, and performing some of folk rock’s most soulful music. With their debut album “Transpacific Comfort” dropping in December of last year, the band is positioned to bring popular music back to its roots with a classic sound and a selection of songs that take listeners on a journey.
